Diva Challenge #231~C's & S's (or curves and waves)

Made by Joey #74~ "Kozy" monotangle
Monday morning challenges commence! I'm enjoying another leisurely morning of coffee and creativity out here in my foggy part of town.
I started about 3 hours ago when I opened up this weeks Diva Challenge, brought to us by guest blogger Sharla Hicks of Tangled Expressions. We are challenged to explore the undulating patterns that are based on curves and waves, or C's and S's and create a series. Sharla included several gorgeous examples from her series of works and links to many patterns...so after spending a couple of hours noodling around all that lovely inspiration, I opened up Joey's challenge for the week: a montangle featuring the pattern "Kozy".
My first reaction was dread. I was challenged with "Kozy" several It's a String Thing challenges ago and I hated it! Now, as I've learned, these are not called challenges for nothing. Whenever I'm tasked with something I have a hard time with the results are, more often than not, rewarding.
After a bit of frustrating practice, I pulled out a watercolor ATC from my little box of tricks, that inspired me to take this into an aquatic world and it clicked immediately.
When I decided it was done, I realized this was a great start to the Diva challenge too. I definitely feel a series coming on. Stay tuned;-)
Thank you so much for stopping by. Your comments always make my day.
Love your cozy! I haven't tried it as of yet. Thanks for reminding me.

Very nice … just like your blog … love it every time I visit!
ReplyDeleteLove how you brought the aquatic feel to this. Quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteI need challenges the way I need deadlines and homework to motivate me to persevere. I think the blue is perfect for your monotangle + perfs. That tangle definitely brings the sea to mind. Nice.
ReplyDeleteLove this tile of yours, it's indeed reminding me of the sea.
ReplyDeleteYour "Kozy" looks wonderful on watercolor background! I wish you a successful series!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteI really like this challenge. The tangles spilling over the border looks fantastic and your watercolour backgrounds add so much. I will be making some watercolour background ATC in the next few days, I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted on the series.

Very nice - the colors and the tangles are one :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for leaving such encouraging and thoughtful comments! Instead of replying to each of your comments here individually I'll leave my thanks on your blogs as it occurs to me that you probably never see my replies after you've visited. You are all so awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo soft and pretty! The background sort of resembles the wall texture on your blog background photo! How cool!
ReplyDeleteOh great idea! Use a challenge from elsewhere to launch the series that is challenged over at the Diva's blog. But I also just love your Kozy here, for Joey's challenge. Your sort of rustic, steampunk style is very appealing to me. I like this a lot.
ReplyDeleteYou have created a nice flow in this tile. Like the blue background.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tile! I really like your Kozy!
ReplyDeleteChallenges can be so challenging ;-) Nice Kozy work!
ReplyDeleteNicely shaped Kozy. It felt intricately woven together. Sarah
