Journals to the People: Hello Sunshine

Hello Sunshine was sent off to consignment several weeks ago and recently listed. The cover is a re-purposed hard cover book using my favorite batik cotton fabric to cover.

It’s a challenge journal for Lindsey Zenors Marketplace where we are to use specified digitals from her shop at Nevermore Creations 17, so there's a nod to bees and lemons here and there, but I really enjoy mashing up my favorite bits with the designated digitals and doing a little deconstruction to make them serve me rather than trying to design to serve the digital (quite a struggle for me when I first started using digitals). Lindsey's flip through on her YouTube channel is here.

I used some original gelli prints, lots of collage bits, and copies of my original mixed media work.
Stuff your stuff in here. I did subsequently fill all of the bands and tuck spots after the photo was taken.
I luvs me some collage.

There’s a lot of journaling  spots throughout the journal.

Using My Stash

Last night, I finally dove into the ridiculous pile of ribbons and beads I've amassed over the last several years, always inspired yet somehow resistant to delve into the the added complexity of Junk Journal Jewelry.

Last week I made my first trek in a year and a half out to Joann's fueled by a fist full of dog sitting $, email coupons and a sale. Though I had an idea of a paper haul, I ended up with a bunch of new beads and charms.

The absolute best find ever were these wire heading needles. I had no idea I even needed these even though I always struggle with getting beads onto the the hemp cord I've been using (a cheap Ross find) because it frays so easily. My Joann's search had been for big hole beads. Yet, once I started these I still struggled through about 3 tassels before I thought to try the needles.

Game changer.

Arts and Crafts

This journal was sent off to Lindsey Zenors consignment shop awhile back. It's an eclectic journal with a  lot of collage and a mash up of digital odds and ends skewing slightly toward images from the Arts and Crafts movement with William Morris wallpaper, photos from the book "A Year at Chez Panisse", a local restaurant famous not only for the food but for the Arts and Crafts building and decor, and a digital set of illustrated botanical studies translated into decorative motifs.
