Diva Challenge #235: String Theory~Stripes
This week's challenge is to start with a stripey string. I'm a fan of tangling within stacked strings. I decided to get back to the basics of the white tile for this one. I'm using some of my favorite tangles here: Wud, Prestwood, Golven, Marasu, Opus & Puffle.
That's New to Me #37: a new "T" pattern and Artist Focus on Sandra Strait
"Tada" "Twizted" & "Fohbraid"
I made two new sets of watercolor ATC's last week:
I really like them, though they're a bit dark. It's taking some work with highlight and shadow but the final pieces are pleasingly dramatic. I just wish I had a better camera.

This weeks That's New to Me Challenge introduced me to some new favorite tangles: Tada, Twizted and Fohbraid by Sandra Strait (aka Molussus).
Made by Joey Challenge #78
Alphabet challenge "O": "Oke"
Joey's challenge this week is to use Michele Beauchamp's "Oke". I have to admit when I came across this pattern awhile ago, I wasn't into it. Now, I love it. I'm also thinking that these darker ATC's might be my gateway into the white on black world I've yet to explore. Looking at this ATC I think I should have used white pencil instead of gel pen on the leaves. Oh well, live and learn.
Lastly here's what else I've been up to for this month's Zentangle Artist Trading Card Swap. The theme is Twinchies and a partnering Inchie.
A great big thanks to all of you for stopping by and to those of you who take the time to leave such thoughtful and generous comments...You Rock!!!!
Love the Autumn colours and the white highlights on the Oke. I'd love to hear how you make your watercolour cards. They are so pretty, do you have a special technique? Your album of cards is incredible!

It's so much fun to make those colored card, isn't it? Yours are very beautiful. I like your Diva tile too.
ReplyDeleteAll your Diva tile tangles are new to me. I wonder if any one actually knows how many there are---Hmm. That's probably not the smartest question. I assume Linda Farmer of TanglePatterns.com has an idea. Your shading makes them all look like the fancy carved moldings in old buildings. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteDelightful colours here... yummy even! Love your stripes and these are some of my favorite tangles too. Axxx

ReplyDeleteNice bold choices of tangles and they work beautifully together.
ReplyDeleteGreat tiles! Thanks for being part of the TNTM challenge this week!
ReplyDeletec'est très joli. certains motifs me font penser à des intestincs !
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Some patterns look like very restless intestines.
Nice piece. I especially like the rail across the middle of your string piece. I also like your Oke piece.
ReplyDeleteAll tiles on this post are so gorgeous - and so different. The DIVA in black / white is exact and perfectly shaded with a stunning 3D and the patterns you chose are so lovely! The coloured tiles are fantastic as well - in the pink one I love the tangle above which looks similar to Betweed (I am not sure what it is called exactly). In the last tile I love "oke" - it is an inspiration for me to try it sometime. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat pattern is "Tada". Thanks so much for your kind words Simone;-)
DeleteBeautiful combination of patterns in the Diva tile. The colours in the other two tiles are striking and I love the white highlights on Oke. Good job as always!

ReplyDeleteI tried to add the link to the post with the watercolor How To, but it doesn't seem to work. It's the post from July 14 if that helps at all.
ReplyDeleteThought I had commented on this but I think I may have read your email version instead😉 love your watercolour ATC and your diva challenge nice stripes 😊
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, I'm overhelmed about your creatifity. Your Zentangle-Art is wonderful. I'm a beginner with Zentangle. OKE is my very first official one, still without shadow. I'll learn how to do this.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Switzerland Esther
I love your watercolor tiles. Your use of highlighting is really dramatic. Great job!
