Diva Challenge #238
UMT: Tri-Bee by Beate Winkler
Last week I went to Blick to pick up a new sketchbook and discovered that they sold individual Inktense pencils. I have more colored pencils and watercolor pencils and markers than one person could use in a lifetime. I graduated from art school over 20 years ago. A couple of my Prismacolor pencils still have an .80 price sticker on them;-)
Anyhoo, I reigned myself in and allowed myself 2 pencils. Blue & Brown.

"Rosewood" montotangle
They don't call these challenges for nothing. Rosewood is a lovely pattern but I was having a really hard time seeing it in a monotangle as there doesn't seem to be much room for variation. I tried it on my watercolor ATC's without much luck, so I went into the sketchbook and made it shading practice and yesterdays InkTober page.
I bought a small (4x6) sketch book this time and attempting daily InkTober entries, though not posting them regularly. I'm having some technical issues so it's proving difficult to post anything timely.
I've been a little ADD on my theme but the idea is: Use What I Know. Turn off the internet, put away the pattern references and draw...then shade. I traced a tile onto 5 or 6 pages, assigned each a random pattern (mostly from Square One) and I'm using the bleed from the previous page...and draw the pattern from memory. ie: one of them is "Windfarm" not right on top of my head. If I screw up I've invented a new pattern;-)
Thank you for visiting my blog. Your generous and thoughtful comments always inspire me.
I adore the colours in your Tri-bee tile, and the depth in Rosewood. That last one was pretty hard to make a monotangle of, I fully agree :-)
ReplyDeleteLove blue and brown together. I didn't know you could get those pencils individually. Hope I don't run into a store locally that sells them that way LOL! Have you tried a Sharpie No-Bleed fine point pen for tangling? I love them because I don't have to see them on the other side. But, maybe that's part of a challenge you give yourself. Anyway, nice pieces!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is your sketch book - amazing! *Hastily kicks own book under the sofa*. Wonderful tiles, and I love the colours. Great work.
