Journals to the People: Up Up and Away

I love how this journal came out. It's a repurposed hard cover book covered with some embossed art paper that I've been hoarding for about a year. It was a one - off I purchased at my local S.C.R.A.P.
Once I finally got the book covered, I struggled with putting paint to it because loved the original olive green color but it just didn't feel finished.
Anyhoo, I overcame the fears and went for it.

This journal was created for Lindsey Zenor's Marketplace using digital prints from her shop. I'm slowly getting used to using digitals. I really enjoy deconstructing & reconstructing.

Tuck corners made from scraps.
a little collage with a copy of one of my watercolors
painty papers
more collage
yet more collage
did I mention collage?

I love this little stamp, another S.C.R.A.P. fave. It's sorta become my thang.

Good times.

Journals to the People #4: "Create"

Part 4 in my documentation of journals sent to Lindsey Zenor's Marketplace.

The Deets:
Soft cover  "Frankenpaper"
collaged pocket on the cover decorated with a cluster
5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
single signature
96 pages
Handmade ephemera

Cover lined with batik fabric. Lots of collage.
Coffee dyed/decorated index cards for jotting down brilliant ideas.
Avocado dyed papers for more thoughtful meanderings or doodles.
This jumbo tag was fun. It's an old watercolor background experiment gone wrong, covered in decorative napkin scraps and embellished with a fiber/button cluster. Still a hot mess but kinda cool.
I had pretty good success at my first attempt at dying paper with food coloring. I unearthed a very old box of Wilton food coloring with 8 different colors. The bird is stamped on a tri-fold piece of paper with a very organic looking mottling of pink and green. Love it. Probably couldn't achieve that again if I tried.

Two Duo Challenges and other artsy endeavors

Duo-Challenge
&
It's a String Thing #248

I've got both this and last weeks duo challenges here. Last week was a total bust creatively as well as mentally. I was dog sitting for some friends who have a 1 year old labradoodle. This was uncharted territory for me. I sat for their older dogs for years, but they eventually passed on and because I had Aimee, I hadn't done any dog sitting for them in well over a year. Aimee has gone back to live with my sister. I miss her like crazy but I know she's happy and she's back with the family she's known since she was a baby. I'll bet she misses the peace and quiet though;-)
Anyhoo, the dog was a maniac and the week had me so stressed out not being at home and off my routine. Drawing just did not happen. Things are back to normal. For now.

Multi Media Art Journal
in an altered book

I'm still plonking my way through the mixed media journaling thing. I have a lot of fun with the backgrounds but I get so stuck trying to finish them. This one sat for weeks with the Klimt image and the dried flowers until I finally finished it this morning. Yay!

Travelling Tangles completed this past week:

Thanks so much for stopping by! Your thoughtful and generous comments delight and inspire me.
