Diva Challenge #219 & That's New to Me #21

I am the Diva Challenge #219
Straight Lines

I got a new sketchbook several weeks ago. New sketchbooks intimidate me somehow. I keep thinking that those clean pages are in need of brilliant art. So I just stayed in my old sketchbook going back into old pages and drawing some more. Then I made the leap while messing around with my water color palette. I opened up to the middle of the book, loaded up the paintbrush and set about creating a wet mess. Then I closed the book and made a bigger wet mess. Then I did it again and again.
I've been doing a lot of drawing in it this past week but not so much with the challenges. Then last night, while watching a "Criminal Minds" marathon, I opened up this page and drew a little box, then a line. Then another...and so on. I like drawing "Squavolution" It's really amazing how relaxing straight lines are to draw. I had no plan when I started this, then at one point I drew a tile line around it and kept going.
I managed to squeak this in today:

and Artist Focus on Helen Williams
Raffz & Ripples

I was noodling around on Pinterest last week and saw something like this and it inspired this work-in- progress. I draw a little bit every day:

I've also been drawing a lot of food. I love this website and hope to submit to it as soon as I figure out how to scan something this big.
I've also been drawing cheese a lot:

I think I'm gonna do illustrated cheese boards for Christmas this year.
So that's what I've been up to and doing some cooking and blogging at my foodie blog. I'm trying to motivate myself to cook and eat better.

Thanks for stopping by. I love all of your generous comments.

Diva Challenge #218~White on Black

Diva Challenge #218
White on Black

It took me a while to get to this one. There was an option to this challenge to tangle on a found object if the black and white tools weren't available. I was actually looking for an object to tangle because I I didn't have any black tiles. What I found was an old photo album/scrap book, so I covered both angles.
This is the first time I've done white on black and it definitely calls for simplicity. I may just re-purpose the scrapbook for just this thing.
I created a stacked tangle, inspired by the Stacked and Tangled Facebook Group I recently joined.

Diva Challenge #217~The Alphabet Challenge GHI~String Thing #92

I am the Diva Challenge #217
Duotangle with "Dex" and "Bunzo"

I'm weeks behind on the Alphabet Challenge but I'm liking the way these ones are coming along.  I'm loosely following a theme. They're a larger format (4"x 6") incorporating at least one border pattern and color, color, color. I've been using Aquarelle watercolor pencils.

Didn't get through my weekly challenge list, but got a few more done.

...and a late entry I just now finished:

Diva Challenge #216

This week's challenge at "I am the Diva" was a UMT (Use My Tangle) - "Brella" and if so inclined to incorporate a "Star Wars" theme seeing as the day the challenge was issued was "Star Wars Day" May the 4th be with you.
I was never a die hard fan but I did see the all three original films within the first week of opening and owned them on VHS. I enjoyed the occasional Sunday afternoon/evening marathon watching all three. I loved me some Han Solo so I present here my Millenium Falcon.

More Challenges

Still playing some catch-up. My week starts off with great intentions of meeting my weekly drawing goals but life gets in the way. Every Monday, I plan the challenges out in my sketchbook and as my windows of opportunity arise I pick the one  that speaks to me. This alphabet challenge has been sitting in limbo for 2 weeks. I finally finished it last night.

I feel triumphant when I can combine challenges. This string was just waiting for the right fit when along came this week's That's New to Me challenge~ the letter W as well as a pattern by artist Anne Marks. Worms and Fafolia fit.

One Tangle & That's New to Me "D" patterns

for Jane Monk's One Tangle Facebook group
&
That's New to Me week 17-"D" patterns

I've gotten way behind on many of my weekly challenges. I was inspired by Jane Monk's "Stacked Tangles" strings she's challenged the group with these past few weeks. I really like the simplicity of them and they seem to be the perfect vehicle for samplers. I laid out both strings and started looking for patterns to fill the spaces-starting out with some tried and true then venturing off into new territory and a fitting way to incorporate a little catch up for That's New to Me.
New patterns included Dutch Hourglass, Dot Grid, Dragon Scales and Pea-Fea. Dug Wud and Demi are a couple of old faves.

Diva Challenge #215 ~ Labyrinth Lollipop & Made by Joey #58

I am the Diva Challenge #215
Labyrinth

This weeks challenge at I am the Diva was to create a labyrinth to use as a string. Once I googled and doodled a few labyrinths I couldn't resist using Marasu, my favorite pattern to use in any coil.

Mostly, it's been another busy week at work. After weeks and weeks of the occasional shift in the cheese department, I officially have been offered the position of Cheesemonger (I love that word) at The Market. I couldn't be happier. I celebrate by cooking a lot...with cheese, of course.
I've managed a few windows to draw, but I've been mostly noodling around in my sketchbook.

String #121 with Chimes

This was a fun challenge at Made by Joey. It's my first time using "Chimes".
