This was a fun duo-challenge. I set up the page on Monday with Joey's challenge to use Lily Moon's "Drogon", happy to re-visit it. A lesson learned from previous attempts at it is to go big. "Dublin" is a new pattern I've been wanting to try since seeing it on Facebook's Square One page. I love ogee grid patterns with leafy motifs.
This is where I stopped on Monday
When Adele's challenge appeared on Tuesday night I was apprehensive at first because Paradox and I have not been keen friends. Bumpadox didn't seem to fare much better, but as I laid in Adele's string a friendly cohesion started formulating in my head as I saw some parallel's between Drogon and the 'Dox's. Good Times!
The last page in my Trainwreck Journal
The purpose of this journal was to experiment and play and avoid being precious about anything. I wish I'd taken a picture of the watercolor background. It made me think of butterflies, so I started with some Pinterest pics of butterflies. I did the right side first and I really was not that crazy about all the white. On the left side I added more color using Crayola markers. There's a strip of washi tape down the center that I embellished as well.

Your beautiful tiles are wonderful, Michele! My favorite is the double challenge with the new pattern Dublin. You know, I love such organic patterns. Your unique combination of the very different Drogon and Paradox with Dublin is very sophisticated! Your composition on the last page of your journal is drawn and coloured in a marvelous way. But the highlight every week is your sweet Aimee!
ReplyDeleteThank you Margarete! I'm quite pleased with how the duo-challenges are working so far. I took a risk and started the Joey side before knowing what the IAST challenge would be. Last week I had a later start and had both challenges in front of me before starting. It's more fun this way;-)

And I can feel Aimee's disapproval in the first photo - that your tile is in focus and not her!
Thanks so much Jem! I was so delighted to come across Dublin because it perfectly illustrated the heart of what I'm trying to do with the duo-challenge which is to work new patterns that excite me into my repertoire right away.

DeleteI love the finishing page of your trainwreck journal! wow! but I'm loving the sketchbook pages with various challenges on them. Those two DO look good together, and I'm intrigued by the leafy looking Dublin. Going to hunt that one down fo sho! Good work!

Your challenge tiles are beautiful. I love the Dublin leaves. And the trainwreck journal page is amazing!! The feather-y edges and the color, just wow! It's like a flower exploding into bloom.

DeleteI like all of the work this week. Your Rumpus is dreamy. Drogon has been a favorite of mine since it was first posted, and I love how you used it. I haven't tried Dublin yet - I must try it soon. And your journal page is fantastic. I love how it turned out.
