Some Daily Drawing Practice

Texture
4" x 6"
dip pen and various inks

So began my first week of daily drawing after last weeks post, not in any particular order, inspired by this video  and this video by Alphonso Dunn. Not everything is "finished" and some are just exercises. Here's a link to his series of Basics and Fundamentals if you're interested in exploring pen and ink drawing.
This first one started out as an exercise. I was practicing a wet on wet technique I came across on another one of my favorite YouTube channels, Studio Jess. She calls it Cosmic Moons

before pen and ink

"Toodles"

Perhaps a Throwback travels series?
Continuous line drawing...sort of

A page from my Trainwreck Journal
Frost Flower, Printemps and Rumpus

Shading and Hatching practice

Just noodling around

I usually have something like this going on all the time, for when I feel like drawing but don't have the bandwidth to start something.

"Why, oh why you draw so much and ignore me???"

Thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know if you have any questions about what I shared today. I tried to keep the chatter to a minimum;-)
As ever, your thoughtful and generous comments delight and inspire me.

  1. Your Cosmic Moons are lovely and I can see the potential in that technique - not sure I work fast enough for wet on wet though...

Your 'noodling' piece is fantastic - sometimes nothing is better that sprawling repetition!

    1. Thanks Jem! I wasn't sure about the wet on wet either and I ended up having a lot of fun with it. This page was just some super cheap watercolors that I got at a Japanese Dollar store. Now I feel like I can have a go with my new set of Daniel Smith watercolors.
      Stay tuned;-)

  2. I watched the moons video and love it! Might have to try that one. Your noodling is my type of art right now - not thinking about it. I can look at your art over and over and feel inspired. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks Pat! The cosmic moons are super simple. It's fun to watch how the colors bloom and I just used a cheap set of paint. I definitely want to try it again if I can figure out what to actually do with them;-)

  3. Always wonderful work and so it is a pleaure to see the pictures in this post. Me too am fond of Toodles and I like your tile very much but your first seasonal drawing is my favorite of the week.
Very interesting to see the video of Cosmic Balls, pure magic what you can do with watercolours...but black and white Aimée is also adorable.
Have a good end and begin of 2018!!!!!!!!
