Diva Challenge #330, Joey's Weekly Challenge #178 & other doodlins...

Guest Blogger: Jeanette Clawson
"Plates"
Border and ribbon patterns
a few faves: Abukas, X's and Orbs, My Swing, Fescu, Copada
with a little Mooka, Zinger and Printemps

The challenge this week is border or ribbon patterns on 1/4 circle strings,  ideally created on 4 tiles to make an ensemble. I will try to do more because this would make a great sampler of some of my favorite ribbon patterns.

Ensemble Series #2
Featuring: Merryweather
additionally: Paisley Boa, Striping, Fasset, Crescent Moon & Tipple

This is the second in a 9 tile ensemble series. You can see how I started this here. I'm very excited about this series because it's something I've always been meaning to try. The best part is watching everyone else's progress on their own ensemble. If anyone wants to join in start here.

The "92 Days" project is winding down. I did a separate post for Adele Bruno's "It's a String Thing" Challenge and included a few more journal pages. It's IAST's 4th Birthday.

My brush pen was a bit dry on the start and I was really liking the texture so I stopped.
I almost didn't want to draw anything on it.

I started with blind string

I loved the way day 80 bled through to 82
I couldn't have planned this prompt better if I tried
I left it alone;-)

Some Travelling Tangles completed this past week:

My finish...

...to this fun start by Mary Perrin
in Crystal Lake, Illinois

My finish...

...to this inspiring start by Angie del Rosario
traveling all the way from The Philippines

Thanks so much for stopping by. Your thoughtful and generous comments delight and inspire me 😉

  2. That's one hell of a complicated plate! Such lovely colours and such a lot of detail. Will you do the other three totally different, or re-arrange the same patterns?

    1. Thank you Margaret! I've started another plate tile and so far it's going to be different patterns so it's more of a sampler in the end.

    1. Many thanks Ria! I was very happy with how the Joey tile came out. This is so much fun! All of the work I'm looking at out there is so inspiring and I think it's pushed everyone out of their comfort zone and into a new level of creativity;-) I always wonder what that cat is thinking because her eyes are so expressive. She's a joy.

  10. Wonderful Diva challenge tile. You have inspired me to try to learn to use white highlights. Is the white the underlying paper or added on top of the other color? Will you post your mosaic here when it's completed or in a future challenge. I'm more likely to be able to see the latter.

    1. Thanks Suzanne! The white is applied on top for the most part. I use Prismacolor pencils and Signo Uniball white gel pens. I just finishing up the remaining 3 "Plate" tiles and I'll post those along with Monday's challenges sometime Tuesday or Wednesday;-)

  12. Hey there Michele! Love your style...as always. Everything you do looks so glossy and now I'm inspired to use color to shade my Diva challenge tiles...oh! and your terrific idea to use ATC cards for the Joey challenge. I'm going to put that together today. My favorite one this time is the yellow Traveling tile because how? I mean, you received a piece that is vibrant dark warm yellow, and made it into a serene blue and green walk in the park. LOVE IT! well done. Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Thanks Heidi! It's funny that the day before Joey gave us that ensemble challenge I had just made the new set of ATC's, planning to use them for the Joey challenges regardless of what it was. It worked out great!
