Use My Tangle: "Aloha"
Use My Tangle: "Aloha"
Suzanne challenges us to use her tangle "Aloha". You can find the steps here on Suzanne's blog. I love "Aloha"! I was taken with it when it was first published on Tanglepatterns.com. I love the bold fluid lines. I love it so much, I did it twice:
I'm still a little obsessed with my Staedtler Triplus Fineliners and as I mentioned in my last post, I've been playing with "the bleed". I like how the black fine liner bleeds purple and the purple fineliner (the second tile) bleeds pink.
Anyhoo...Thank you Suzanne for such a great challenge!

JV & O patterns: Japan Diamonds, Veezy and Ozzie
Joey's guest blogger is Susan Theron this week. As a tribute and thanks to Joey for her dedication to keeping us all inspired week to week, Susan created a cursive J string and asked us to use patterns of our own choosing representing the letters of Joey's initials.
Catching up with my "92 days" Journal prompts:
I have, for the moment, caught up with all of the Travelling Tangles I've had in my To Do box:
My finishes...
...to these two starters by Betsy Kent in Vancouver, Washington
These were for the July group swap prompted by "Printemps"
I loved the color effects, especially on the ATC. I used my water soluble Staedtler Triplus Fineliners and then dropped a bit of water to get a little bleeding action and refrained from shading so as not to obliterate the colors and texture of the paper.
This was another super fun finish...
...to this starter by Linda Brown Levin in Fort Worth, Texas
My finish...

for the August group swap prompted by Peach or Peaches
Oh Michele, it is so difficult to choose a favorite, your tiles have always a surprising beauty: your Diva's tile is uncomplicated but absolutely gorgeous, your tile for Joey is wonderful and what can I say about thes T.T. that is pure magic. I think, you won't tell us, but did you do that all by yourself or did your assistant help you? (LOL)
ReplyDeleteThank you Ria! I have to say that this week's Diva challenge was hardly a challenge at all since I'm so enamored of "Aloha", I couldn't wait to get started:-) I truly appreciate your kind words. Aimee has been known to traipse across a freshly inked piece and leave her mark, so sometimes she does "help" in her own special way;-)
DeleteBy the time I get to the end I'm forgetting the beautiful tiles at the beginning! Lovely work thank goodness you have an able assistant to help you keep it all organized!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Trudi you are so sweet;-)
DeleteOnce again the quantity and quality of your production is mind blowing. It take me at least a month to be as prolific as you are. Again, it's not just the quantity, it's also the consistent quality. I love both your Aloha tiles. You have completely captured the spirit of Aloha.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Suzanne, not only for your kind comment but also for such an inspiring pattern. Regarding my productivity: I don't call this blog Coffee & Creativity for nuthin' ;-)
DeleteWow, I wonder how you find the time for all this work. So much and so very beautiful. The Aloha tiles are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you Annemarie! The weather's been a bit gloomy this week and I had an extra day off so this is pretty much how I spend my time when not at work. It keeps me out of trouble;-)
DeleteI like the way your Aloha tile is made to look so 3D. It has a very rounded look and I also like the highlighting on the tangle itself.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Duane!
DeleteOh wow i love your colourful tiles!!! 😍
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteSuch nice pieces. I especially love how you put that cute Bijou into your pretty gem!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jean! The "Rewind" prompt for that entry was to go back and redo an earlier prompt. I chose "Bijou", hence Bijou in a bijou on a Bijou;-)
DeleteIt is only Wednesday and you have already done all challenges and TTs and journal entries and caught up with all the days of this month to date and all without blinking twice or having to sleep over night to decide which tangles to pick. For you to pick tangles seems like going to the dinner and picking the special of the day. Michele, I will not comment on the tiles this time because I would sound like a broken record, repeating myself over and over again, but I agree fully with all the above. BTW - I found Aimee....
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie! I do draw everyday for at least an hour but I do the bulk of it on my days off from work, especially when the weather is grey. It's been a grey week;-)
DeleteAgain a lot of great work. I like both of your DC pieces. Like the boldness of the first one. I have to admit, I do not remember when it was introduced. Will probably use it more now as I like some organic fillers and even mixed with grid tangles.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Donald!
DeleteAll are so lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kate!
DeleteYou did gorgeous work. Especially your Aloha tangles are wonderful. The bleeding of your new Staedler Fineliners make very intersting effects. And your heart-loving cat is a very nice helper. We had such a similar lovely cat about 30 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margarete!
DeleteI love visiting your blog, your art is so beautiful and inspiring. Like the others I am in awe of how much you can accomplish. You must have the gift of being able to turn off the daily grind and submerge quickly into your artistic ideas! Truly a gift!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joey! I'm not sure if it's a gift, more like a diversionary tactic;-)
DeleteWell there's not much I can say that hasn't been said here already but believe me, I do love your work. I've sent off a couple of TT for you to complete, so don't get complacent about having caught up!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Margaret! A new wave of TT's are rolling in, so the break is over;-) I appreciate the re-do of our last swap. I always look forward to your mail;-)
DeleteWow, I love your sparkling Aloha :-) And your other work of course!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ilse!
DeleteAll art inspiring as ever - but I had to say that I saved your image of Aimee to my folder of our swaps as she's touching our tile! I hope she gave it her approval!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jem! I was hoping you'd see that picture of Aimee;-)
DeleteMany tiles equally magnificent!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful tiles to see here! It´s a pleasure to have a look at them! I like your journal pages, too! Very inspiring post!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Annette!
