Diva Challenge #325, Made by Joey #174 ETC....

Guest Blogger: Jessica Davies
"Peanuckle"
colored fineliner and Prismacolor pencil
on art tissue colored paper

Whilst visiting my sister in the burbs last week, I wandered into Target and was excited to find this set of Staedtler Triplus fineliners in a color palette that was sooooo me... $6!!!! It was the last one. Serendipity!

Now, those of you who are familiar with my work see a lot a fun with color when it comes to my backgrounds but, for line work I'm all about black. Sometimes I venture into brown and blue so this colored pen thing is new to me. I tried them out on the eco-print piece below first and then on this Diva piece.
Jessica Davies is back this week with a challenge to use "Peanuckle". It's another one of those patterns I like the look of but have had a hard time executing, thus, I never use it. So after my whiney groan, I took a deep breath and thought "Great! Let's do this!"

Finish My Tile
"Asian Fans"
art tissue coloring on an ATC

This week's guest blogger at Made by Joey's Weekly Challenge is Susie Ng from Fleeting Time. Susie's artwork is unique in its remarkable contrast of bold graphics and elegant finesse that results in the most outside-the-box creations in the best way possible. I've never seen anything like it.
Susie provided us with a simple string and a gorgeous start of  "Asian Fans". I loved it. It scared me;-)

My latest on Eco-printed paper:

4"x 6" Zia
Staedler fineliners and Prismacolor pencils

Here are some of the Travelling Tangles I've recently finished:

My finish...

...to this inspiring start by Elena Greer

My finish...
...to this fun beginning by Betsy Kent

My finish...

...to this lovely start by Sue Clark

It was back to basics black on white this last round. I love that so much...especially since I've been so pre-occupied with color lately;-)
Sue generously sent me a black pre-strung Zendala, a pre-strung 3Z and a Renaissance 3Z to have some fun with. What a treat it was when this lovely envelope arrived. I don't have the budget or bandwidth to acquire official Zentangle products, so it's always a joy to work with them when my amazing tangle peeps send me the "real thing". Many thanks Sue! I can't wait to get my mitts on these and to Elena and Betsy for all of the drawing pleasure I got from your lovely beginnings

Aimee pic of the week
This cracked me up
At first I thought she was just stretching
she slept like this for a long time

Thanks so much for stopping by! Your thoughtful and generous comments delight and inspire me.

  3. Wow I'm so blown away particularly by your eco-printed paper piece! It looks great! Are the fineliners comparable to sakura microns?

    1. Thanks so much! The eco-printed paper has opened up a whole new exploration for me. I'm a bit obsessed;-) So far, I'm really liking the fineliners a lot and they do seem to be a smoother glide on the paper. I use watercolor paper so it's toothy and a bit rough on the Microns. For black linework I use a Rapidograph technical pen.

  4. Every time I visit your website my eyes go bananas and I scroll from one tile down to the next only to return to the top to repeat the same thing again and again, each time looking a bit closer first here and then there. Of course, I do have a fav tile this week and it is my challenge tile. 2 thumbs up and if I had more thumbs... they would all go up. Love it! Thanks so much for participating at my challenge, Michele.

  5. Wow, I LOVE that purple Peanuckle in the first tile. I tried the eco-dye technique a few days ago and LOVE it. Thanks to you for sharing.

  6. Your new pens are bringing new wonders out of you. I think the muted colours work really well with your existing style. I use a black Triplus for all my practice work and love the feel of it, but I've never looked into their coloured pens...

Peanuckle... hmmm... I'm putting it off but I should try!

And that finish to Betsy's tile is amazing - the way you pulled all those floating islands together! Well done!

    1. Thanks Jem! Yes, I'm really liking the fineliners so far and those muted colors were made for me;-) I'm beginning to warm up to Peanuckle. I used it again for "Green" day on my 92 Days Journal in a fan formation. It's much more versatile than I thought, but the key to unlocking it is to go sloooooowwwwww;-)

  7. You delivered a wonderful tile for Susie's challenge in your own beautiful style, I love it Michele.
I'm fond of your use of colours and I am already very curious to see new work with those new pens.Your peanuckle is drawn in a nice composition with stunning colors.
Your T.T. are always amazing, also when they are in black/white but my absolute favorite of this week is again your eco-printed paperwork!!!

    1. Thank you Ria! Susie's challenge was the challenge of the week for me, most definitely and I was very nervous figuring out how to start when I couldn't see the starting string (thank you for helping to clarify that). I'm very happy with how it turned out. I'm really enjoying the eco-print paper and finding the strings within.

  10. Like the curvy version of Pea-nuckle. Also like the purple in that tile. Your other tiles are fantastic. I really like the eco-colored tile. I have not tried that technique yet but hoping to soon.
