September Folio

It’s been a very productive couple of months here at Coffee & Creativity. I spent the last several days finishing up a bunch of journals I started since my last group of journals were mailed out mid August. This is an ephemera folio I’m getting ready to send off to Lindsey Zenors shop Nevermore Creations 17.
The ephemera folio is still a concept I have difficulty wrapping my brain around when it comes to something someone else would buy. Usually, the ones I have seen here and there tend to capture some kind of theme or design scheme where everything coordinates. I don’t really roll that way.
So, in the end, I filled it with all of the stuff I like to use, which includes one of my favorite supplies…crap from Shein. Love it!
The cover came from my stash of mixed media collaged/decoupaged pieces. The pocket pages inside are tied in so whoever wants this in their life can make a journal out of any or all of the components. The tassel includes a whole bunch of beads and can easily be deconstructed.j

All in all, there are 10 pages of pockets filled with a lot of my hand crafted collage cards & tags, some printed cards, coffee/tea/ ink dyed ephemera, and a whole bunch of stickers and such.

Journal for Dorothy

This journal just made its way to the post office today, headed ultimately (fingers crossed) to my cousin in Canada. The cover is decoupaged with spent strips of bleeding art tissues that I had used to dye some of the pages within. I used matte gel medium to apply the tissue, added a layer of glossy gel medium, then coated it with gloss acrylic spray. I had made several of these covers on 12x 12 cardboards from frozen pizza boxes. The cover decoration is a die cut negative mounted on one of the off cuts from one of the other covers.

I included several of my collaged cards, some local postcards, and family photos.

Papers colored with bleeding art tissue

Most of the pages are not embellished though I did go back and add stenciling before dashing out to the post office

Moon and Six Pence #2

Mixed media cover with a painted Tyvek spine reinforcement, decorated with layered book pages and wildflower die-cuts.

I included several tissue dyed papers.
Collaged pockets which includes a hidden journaling card.

I clipped in some printed images from an ephemera pack I purchased at Shein.

I love this book garter closure.

Thunderbird: A Journal for Elaine

This is one of a pair of journals I created for my cousins, mother and son. This is the more decorative of the two. The cover measures about 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and about 72 pages front and back. The artwork is a collage of colored tissue pieces and the eagle represents her spiritual name "Thunderbird Woman". The charms are an eagle wing, two different turtles and the 4th is the Tree of Life.

Many of the images and decor represent the First Nations reserve where they live in Northern Ontario. The photograph is of the Moose River taken by another cousin (Martha).  I totally lifted this off of Marthas FB page. I hope she doesn't mind.

A pocket made from a piece of my junk mail that a bunch of useless coupons came in. I decoupaged some bingo cards cuz well...its Bingo!

Yup...I went a little "Extra" with the feathers LOL.
I used several digital images from ETSY creator Elsie Bells Bookshelf.
