"Drawings"

I'm still breaking in my new journal, so I decided to complete this months challenges here. "Drawings" was introduced to the general public by Zentangle HQ last month and subsequently turned up on a few challenges.
I had an idea for this page to be an organic sampler. That didn't happen. After I played around with the 3 versions of Drawings I let the rest happen free-form.

Here's the page just after I started the shading. I was trying out a new pen...something I picked up at Staples. It said "needlepoint" and that intrigued me. It's retractable and I like the idea of that when drawing on location. I'm also still playing around with my new Tombow grey scale brush pens for shading. I prefer to shade with markers although they're not very forgiving and I tend to draw a little sketchy...not so precise. It can be hit or miss for me when it comes to shading. I'm a disaster with graphite.

    Drawings is beautiful, Michele. What kind of notebook are you using? I have just experimented with a piece of Stonehenge paper. It's expensive but pretty awesome! I love the way it takes the colored pencils.

      Thanks Denise! The journal brand is Art Alternatives. It's one of those generic bound art store brands with the black pebbled hard cover.

    The Drawings look luscious. You should do a post where you compile all the different variations of Drawings that you've done. You've given me so much inspiration on how to teach Drawings to my students already. :)

    wow what a stunning page of Drawings! I'm inspired, since I've had so much trouble with that pattern! I cannot get it to look good. and I LOVE what you've done with your Joey challenge...excellent!

    What a fabulous page of Drawings! I love the way you've "decorated" each one! It's really nice to see the different variation. And thanks for showing us your pattern library. I always looking for ideas. :)

    Michele, this page is just gorgeous! Beautiful piece of art!! Very inspiring. I also love to use markers or inkbrushes for shading. I am not a big fan of shading with graphite and I have to admit I absolutely don't like the smudging;)
